How to start playing new casino games online

Starting at a new online casino takes about half an hour if you have your ID and phone at hand. The order matters: check the casino first, set your limits before you deposit, and upload your documents before you need a withdrawal.

Everything below works on a phone browser. You do not need to download anything to play at most of the casinos on our list.

1. Check the casino before you sign up

  • Find the licence in the footer and look it up on the regulator's register.
  • Read the withdrawal section of the terms: limits, fees and processing time.
  • Check that the cashier lists a way to pay you back that you can actually use, such as an e-wallet, a card or a mobile money wallet.

Our review method lists the checks we make on every new brand, and each review on this site shows the result.

2. Open an account and verify it

Register with your real name and date of birth, exactly as they appear on your NRC or passport. Casinos compare them at the first withdrawal, and a mismatch freezes the payout.

Upload your ID and a proof of address (a utility bill, bank statement or a letter from your employer) straight away. Our guide on why casinos ask for ID explains what each document is for.

3. Set limits first

Open the responsible gaming settings in your account and set a daily or weekly deposit limit before you pay anything in. Lowering a limit takes effect at once; raising one usually waits 24 hours or more, which is the point.

More tools are on our responsible gaming page.

4. Make a small first deposit

Pay in a small amount, play a little and request a small withdrawal. It is the quickest honest test of a new casino: you learn how long it takes, whether it asks for more documents and whether fees appear.

If you deposit with Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money, you approve the payment on your phone with your PIN. Check whether the same wallet is listed for withdrawals; many casinos take mobile money in but pay out to e-wallets or crypto.

5. Pick a game you understand

Start with a game whose rules you can explain in one sentence. Demo mode helps for slots and RNG tables. Our guide on choosing a game compares house edges, and games for beginners suggests where to start.

6. Think twice about the welcome bonus

A bonus locks your deposit until the wagering is done. On a first visit to a new casino, playing without one lets you withdraw whenever you like. If you do claim it, work out the cost on our bonus page first.

Questions

Getting started: questions

Do I need to download an app to play?

No. The casinos on our list run in a phone or desktop browser. Some also offer an Android app, which you install from the casino's own site.

Which ID do Zambian players use for verification?

Your NRC or passport, plus a recent proof of address. Some casinos also ask for a photo of the card or wallet you paid with.

Can I deposit with mobile money?

At some casinos. Each review shows which methods are listed for deposits and which for withdrawals.

How much should my first deposit be?

An amount you are happy to lose and small enough to test a withdrawal with. The point of the first deposit is to see how the casino pays.

Responsible gaming

Play only if you are 18+ and it stays fun

These rules apply on every page of this site. A young casino has less history to judge it by, so the limits matter more.

18+ only

Adults only, everywhere

You must be 18 or older, and older in some countries. A casino can ask for ID before your first withdrawal, and new casinos often do.

Start small with an unknown casino

Deposit an amount you would accept losing to a failed withdrawal, and request a small cash-out early to see how the casino handles it.

Limits

Set limits before the welcome offer

Bonus wagering keeps you playing longer. Set a deposit limit and a time limit in the account before you claim.
