Common mistakes players make at new casino sites

Most bad experiences at new casinos come from a short list of avoidable mistakes, and almost all of them happen before the first spin: at registration, at the first deposit or when claiming a bonus.

A new casino has no payout record yet, so these checks matter more than at an established site.

1. Not checking the licence

Find the licence number in the footer and search for it on the regulator's register. Curaçao moved to a new licensing law at the end of 2024, and licences are now issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority, which keeps a public register. If the number is missing or the domain does not match the register entry, walk away.

2. Skipping the terms

Withdrawal limits, fees, inactivity charges and restricted countries all sit in the terms. Read at least the withdrawal and bonus sections. Our guide to casino terms lists the red flags.

3. Claiming a bonus without doing the maths

A K 2,000 bonus at 40x wagering means K 80,000 of bets. On a 96% RTP slot that costs about K 3,200 on average, more than the bonus is worth. Work it out on our bonus page first.

4. Stakes too big for the budget

With K 1,000 for the session, K 50 spins give you about twenty rounds. Keep stakes at 1 to 2% of the session budget.

5. Ignoring RTP and volatility

The same slot can run at different RTP versions at different casinos, and high-volatility games can go hundreds of spins without a big win. Check the info screen.

6. Uploading ID only when you win

Verification at the first withdrawal is normal. Upload your NRC or passport and proof of address at registration so a win is not held for days.

7. Not using support or limits

Ask support a simple question before you deposit and note how long the reply takes. Set a deposit limit on day one; our control tips explain how.

Questions

Common mistakes: questions

Why does the licence check matter so much?

It decides who you can complain to if a withdrawal is refused. Without a verifiable licence, nobody can help.

What happens if I break a bonus term?

The casino can cancel the bonus and any winnings from it, often for one bet above the maximum stake.

How much should I bet per round?

About 1 to 2% of your session budget, so the session lasts long enough to enjoy.

Is it normal for a casino to ask for ID?

Yes. Licensed casinos must verify age and identity before paying out.

Responsible gaming

Play only if you are 18+ and it stays fun

These rules apply on every page of this site. A young casino has less history to judge it by, so the limits matter more.

18+ only

Adults only, everywhere

You must be 18 or older, and older in some countries. A casino can ask for ID before your first withdrawal, and new casinos often do.

New brands

Start small with an unknown casino

Deposit an amount you would accept losing to a failed withdrawal, and request a small cash-out early to see how the casino handles it.

Limits

Set limits before the welcome offer

Bonus wagering keeps you playing longer. Set a deposit limit and a time limit in the account before you claim.
